Norwegian Sea to Receive Multi-Million Dollar Refurbishment
Ship Resumes Popular Texaribbean Cruises in November 2003

Miami, FL, January 17, 2003-- Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) announced today Norwegian Sea will undergo a multi-million dollar refurbishment project this month as it enters dry dock in Grand Bahama. Enhancements range from the addition of a new restaurant, new carpet, granite floors and countertops to wood floors and new upholstery added to various public rooms on the ship.

Built in 1988, the 1,518-guest Norwegian Sea will be the only cruise ship sailing year round from the Port of Houston in November when she will offer weekly “Texaribbean” cruises to four exotic Western Caribbean ports including Cozumel and Cancun, Mexico; Roatan, Honduras; and Belize City, Belize. NCL is the only major cruise line sailing from Houston rather than Galveston and the only one offering four Caribbean ports from Texas.

Norwegian Sea is a very popular ship with new and repeat guests,” said Andy Stuart, senior vice president marketing and sales for NCL. “Our travel partners and passengers will love the new look of Norwegian Sea with her rich colors and vibrant public rooms.”
After her dry dock, which began yesterday on January 16, Norwegian Sea will resume service on January 30th in Miami where she will sail to the Caribbean before she begins her summer season sailing to Bermuda out of New York.

Dramatic changes for Norwegian Sea
NCL is adding a fifth restaurant to Norwegian Sea called The Pasta Café. The restaurant, to be decorated in burgundy and peach colors, will serve traditional Italian fare and seat 40 guests.

Gatsby’s Wine Bar will undergo a dramatic change from its current black and white treatment to a more romantic room with vibrant reds and greens. NCL is installing new wood paneling as well as new Scandinavian designed chairs and tables in this intimate spot on Deck 10.

Audiences will enjoy spectacular Broadway-style shows in the newly refurbished Stardust Lounge, which will feature a rich burgundy and gold theme with new carpet, drapes and new upholstery for banquettes, chairs and bar stools.

Le Bistro, NCL’ signature restaurant, will be transformed with new colors including classic golds and greens and new carpet, draperies and upholstery.

Other enhancements include:

  • The Pool Deck will be sanded and refinished as well as the addition of new deck carpeting and “teak-deck” around the pool;

  • Seven Seas Restaurant will be transformed with tranquil blues and greens. The restaurant will also receive new chairs, carpet, wall coverings and granite floors;

  • Four Seasons Restaurant will receive new carpet, teak woods, wall coverings, upholstery and drapes in beautiful golds and teals;

  • Reception and shore excursion areas will receive granite countertops and floors and new carpet;

  • Stair towers, landings and corridors on all decks will receive new carpet, chairs and drapes;

  • The Big Apple Café will receive new ceramic tiles and wood floors;

  • Oscar’s Piano Bar will receive new carpet and upholstery;

  • Monte Carlo Casino will receive new carpet;

  • The Cabaret Lounge and Boomers Disco will receive new carpet and draperies and re-upholstered seat banquettes;

  • The Butterfly Card Room/Library will also receive new carpet, wall coverings and draperies;

  • Norwegian Sea’s four suites will be completely redecorated with new carpet, new draperies and new chairs.

Norwegian Sea offers a variety of dining options to whet any appetite including two main restaurants, NCL’s signature Le Bistro restaurant, the Big Apple Café, The Pasta Café and Lickety Splits ice cream parlor.
Two years ago, NCL added an Internet Café to Norwegian Sea. In keeping with today’s technology trend, Norwegian Sea guests can now stay connected with wireless access or Wi Fi. They can check e-mail, send messages and get work done at their leisure without having to be ‘wired’ to their cabin 24-hours a day, wherever the ship is located.
Among Norwegian Sea’s many features are the Cabaret Lounge, the Stardust Lounge, Boomers Disco and the Monte Carlo Casino. Junior cruisers have their own playroom, “The Porthole,” for NCL’s “Kids Crew” activities, and guests of all ages can enjoy the Norwegian Sea’s spacious pool deck, spa and 24-hour fitness area.
