NORWEGIAN STAR WILL CALL AT
HILO INSTEAD OF KONA IN HAWAII
Norwegian Cruise Line Makes Temporary
Move Permanent
Miami - March 25, 2002 - Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) today
announced Norwegian Star will permanently call at Hilo instead
of Kona in Hawaii. The decision comes after the successful
testing of the operational feasibility of Hilo on a temporary
basis as well as receiving positive feedback from passengers,
who were able to spend more time on the Big Island of Hawaii.
"Lack of sufficient shore side tender availability in
Kona coupled with the extremely positive feedback from our
passengers has prompted us to make this temporary move permanent,"
said Colin Veitch, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line.
"The benefit of being alongside has been significant,
giving our passengers longer to enjoy the Big Island of Hawaii."
Additionally, the stop at Hilo allows passengers to experience
popular shore excursions including the Volcano National Park
Odyssey, featuring Mount Kilauea, one of the world's most
active volcanoes.
