GOURMET SOCIETY HONORS NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINE FLEET
Norwegian Sun hosted the induction of
nine NCL ships into the Confrerie de la Chaine des Rotisseurs
gastronomic society
MIAMI, May 10, 2002 - The entire Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL)
fleet, including the new Norwegian Dawn, was inducted into
the Confrerie del la Chaine des Rotisseurs on April 20, a
prestigious international gourmet society, at a ceremony onboard
Norwegian Sun.
Formed in Paris in 1950, the Chaine des Rotisseurs is based
on traditions and practices established by the French royal
guild of goose roasters, whose history traces back to the
13th century. The society's members promote fine dining and
the camaraderie and pleasures of the table.
"We are honored that our outstanding fleetwide cuisine
has been recognized by one of the world's most distinguished
culinary societies," said Andy Stuart, NCL's senior vice
president of market and sales. "This distinction from
the Chaine des Rotisseurs highlights the excellence of NCL's
Freestyle Cruising, which has revolutionized dining in the
cruise industry."
The Chaine des Rotisseurs' Miami Chapter presented NCL's
Norwegian Dream, Norway, Norwegian Majesty, Norwegian Sea,
Norwegian Sky, Norwegian Star, Norwegian Sun, Norwegian Wind
and Norwegian Dawn, the latter currently under construction
and scheduled to premiere in December 2002, with the society's
professional plaque and diploma, both now displayed prominently
aboard each ship. Each vessel's executive chef and restaurant
manager also received a ribbon and chain that are the property
of NCL and will remain on board at all times.
All of NCL's ships feature Freestyle Cruising, which offers
an unprecedented number of dining choices. Unlike other cruise
lines, NCL's Freestyle Cruising allows passengers the freedom
to dine whenever, wherever and with whomever they choose as
they sample a wide range of cuisine at an array of restaurants
including traditional, French, Italian, Asian fusion, sushi,
teppanyaki and Spanish Tapas.
Miami-based Norwegian Cruise Line is an international cruise
company and industry innovator that currently operates a fleet
of eight ships sailing to more than 140 ports around the world.
NCL is currently building Norwegian Dawn (for delivery December
2002), a 2,200-passenger sister ship to Norwegian Star.
