NORWEGIAN STAR DEBUTS NEW
HULL ARTWORk
MIAMI - May 28, 2004 - Norwegian Cruise Line's (NCL) Norwegian
Star departed dry dock yesterday after having completed a
multi-million dollar renovation. The most notable change includes
decorative artwork adorning the ship's hull - a burst of colorful
stars and streamers from the bow of the ship; a whimsical
interpretation of the long-time cruise tradition of passengers
throwing streamers from the bow of the ship as the vessel
pulls away from the dock at the beginning of a sailing.
Additional changes include the addition of a 1930's-style
Cagney's Steakhouse, a very popular restaurant concept on
Norwegian Star's sister ship, Norwegian Dawn, and a 10,000
square foot state-of-the-art casino. The Teen Club was transformed
into the sleek, hip Pearl Martini Lounge and the adjoining
Karaoke Circus became the Carousel Bar and Night Club where
the existing private Karaoke rooms were removed to create
an expanded space for the night club.
Norwegian Star begins sailing on Sunday, May 30, from Seattle
in a series of seven-day itineraries to Alaska, with ports
of call in Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan, Alaska; Victoria,
British Columbia and a cruise through scenic Glacier Bay.
Norwegian Star will sail from Seattle each Sunday through
Sept. 5, 2004.
After Alaska, the ship will reposition to Los Angeles for
the winter season for eight-day Mexican Riviera cruises beginning
September 26, 2004. The exotic itinerary includes the Mexican
Rivera's most famous playground, Acapulco, with a full day
and overnight stay. The cruise also includes a call into Zihuatanejo,
and favorites Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas.
