NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINE GROUP
PARTNERS WITH MBNA
Travel Agents Earn Commissions on Every
Active Credit Card Account They Generate
MIAMI, August 16, 2002 - The Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL)
Group has partnered with MBNA to offer consumers an NCL or
Orient Lines credit card with exclusive features not found
with any other cruise line credit card. The company, the only
major cruise line protecting 10 percent air commissions for
travel agents, will also be giving travel agents a $25 commission
for every credit card application they generate that is approved
and activated.
Issued through MBNA America Bank, N.A., the Norwegian Cruise
Line and Orient Lines Platinum Plus MasterCard credit cards
are now available. As part of the Compass Rewards Program,
customers will enjoy no annual fee and the opportunity to
earn three points for every $100 they charge to their card
on all retail purchases and one additional point, or a total
of four, for every $100 in purchases of products or services
of NCL, Orient Lines or Star Cruises. They can redeem these
points for stateroom upgrades and "good-as-cash"
cruise certificate credits with all the brands in the Star
Cruises Group - NCL, Orient Lines and Star Cruises.
"We selected MBNA because of their solid reputation
and outstanding track record with credit card partnerships,"
said Colin Veitch, president and CEO of NCL. "We feel
MBNA is the best structured credit card company to effectively
handle NCL's rewards program, which will better serve our
customers. The reward program on this card is the most comprehensive
of any in the cruise industry, enabling card holders to sail
free on any of our three brands to more than 300 destinations
spanning all seven continents."
"MBNA is pleased to be partnering with the NCL Group
to offer credit card services to its customers," said
John R. Cochran, president and COO of MBNA America, Bank.
"MBNA is committed to providing NCL's customers with
the finest products and services."
