NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINE GROUP TURNS TO ELECTRONIC NOTICE TO MARINERS AND DIGITAL LIST OF LIGHTS

MIAMI, September 11, 2002 - Norwegian Cruise Line and Orient Lines today announced they will take the recently-approved use of Digitrace, a marine topography service from the chart agent Marine Press of Canada, one step further to include a digital List of Lights. The digital List of Lights tracks characteristics of shore side lights, lighthouses and coastal land masses, to save help onboard crew save time, increase productivity and ensure quality control in carefully charting waters in which the vessels sail. NCL is currently the only cruise line that has received approval to use the digital List of Lights.

The Bahamas Maritime Authority recently gave approval to the NCL Group to use Digitrace as an approved service for the electronic transmission of Notice To Mariners in line with the new SOLAS regulation (chapter V, Regulation 20). The line will also use a digital List of Lights to update the onboard charting systems. These new systems replace the paper versions that were traditionally used and previously approved.

"Using both the electronic versions of the NTMs and digital List of Lights is a further example of the NCL Group's commitment to adopting the most up to date technologies and systems as part of its safety practices and procedures on all ships, " said Jan Erik Andersen, senior vice president of marine operations for the NCL Group. "Utilizing these systems allows us to quickly identify which charts need updating and allow us to print only the corrections and modifications we need. This allows us better efficiency and reliable access to the vary latest version of all the many charts we use in safely navigating our vessels."

Miami-based Norwegian Cruise Line is an international cruise company and industry innovator that currently operates a fleet of eight ships sailing to more than 140 ports around the world. NCL is currently building Norwegian Dawn (for delivery December 2002), a 2,240-passenger sister ship to Norwegian Star.

Orient Lines' CruiseTour program offers guests in-depth experiences on land and sea. Passengers on all of the line's sailings enjoy first-class or deluxe hotel stays, sightseeing tours in embarkation/disembarkation cities, transfers, baggage handling and the services of an Orient Lines hospitality desk. Distinguished guest lecturers enrich the passenger experience and gentleman hosts make sure everyone joins in the dancing and shipboard activities.
