NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINE INCREASES COMMITMENT TO HAWAII AND SOUTHERN
CARIBBEAN
Miami - Oct. 31, 2001 - Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) today
announced the line will increase its commitment to Hawaii
and the Southern Caribbean by altering the 2002-2003 deployment
for Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Wind.
On Sept. 29, 2002 Norwegian Sky will sail from Vancouver,
British Columbia to Los Angeles before beginning a Panama
Canal repositioning cruise to Miami, where the ship will remain
for drydock. On Oct. 29, 2002, Norwegian Sky will reposition
to San Juan on a five-night Eastern Caribbean cruise and then
begin its rotation of seven-night Deep Southern Caribbean
and Exotic Southern Caribbean cruises on Nov. 3, 2002. Previously,
Norwegian Sky was scheduled to sail from Vancouver to Hawaii
for a series of 10-night roundtrip Honolulu cruises before
repositioning to Miami for drydock in December.
Norwegian Wind will reposition from Vancouver to Honolulu
on Sept. 16, 2002 and begin its rotation of 10- and 11-night
round-trip cruises from Honolulu on Sept. 27, 2002. Norwegian
Wind was originally scheduled to be in Asia until January
4, 2003 and then sail to Honolulu for the Hawaiian Islands
itinerary.
"We're building on the tremendous success we've experienced
in the Hawaii market with our seven-day year round itineraries,
" said Colin Veitch, president and chief executive officer
of Norwegian Cruise Line. "Having operated a reasonably
short season in the 10- and 11- day market we are choosing
now to increase our commitment by offering 10- and 11-day
itineraries throughout the winter season. "
According to Veitch, NCL is also increasing its commitment
to the Southern Caribbean and San Juan by adding seven more
voyages onboard Norwegian Sky.
