Sex and The City Star Kim Cattrall to Play A Different Role - Godmother of Norwegian Dawn

NCL's newest ship to call New York home

Miami, December 5, 2002 - Only one sexy New York icon could truly welcome the Big Apple's new leading lady to the city that never sleeps: Kim Cattrall of HBO's hit series Sex and the City! Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) today named Kim Cattrall as Godmother of Norwegian Dawn, its newest Freestyle Cruising ship, set to call New York home. She will christen Norwegian Dawn in a ceremony aboard the ship in New York on December 16, 2002 at 4:30 p.m.

According to Colin Veitch, NCL's president and chief executive officer, "Kim embodies the spirit of New York and the distinctive style of Freestyle Cruising. Kim's allure is quite tantalizing, she is the new symbol of New York City and the perfect Godmother for our newest, most innovative vessel, Norwegian Dawn."

Kim Cattrall is a Golden Globe® and Emmy® -nominated actress who has received worldwide critical acclaim for her portrayal of femme fatale Samantha Jones on Sex and the City.

The actresses' diverse career has spanned film, stage and television. Cattrall starred opposite Jack Lemmon in his Academy Award nominated performance in "Tribute" and she received a Lead Actress Genie nomination (Canadian Oscars) for her performance in "Ticket to Heaven."

She also starred in a host of blockbuster films, including "Police Academy 1," "Porky's," "Mannequin," "Masquerade," "Star Trek 6: the Undiscovered Country," John Carpenter's "Big Trouble in Little China," and with Tom Hanks in Brian De Palma's "Bonfire of the Vanities."

In addition, Cattrall and her husband, Mark Levinson, recently co-authored the best selling book, Satisfaction currently on sale at bookstores nationwide.

The 92,250-ton Norwegian Dawn is NCL's third ship purpose-built for the groundbreaking Freestyle Cruising concept, which has taken the travel industry by storm.

NCL will roll out the red carpet for Norwegian Dawn's inaugural festivities in Southampton, New York and Miami before the ship begins her regularly scheduled sailings to the Eastern Caribbean from the port of Miami on December 21, 2002.

From Miami, Norwegian Dawn will rotate an Eastern and Western Caribbean itinerary through May 3, 2003. The Eastern Caribbean itinerary calls at San Juan, Puerto Rico; St. Thomas, USVI; Tortola, BVI and Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas. The Western Caribbean itinerary calls at either Montego Bay or Ocho Rios, Jamaica; Georgetown, Grand Cayman; Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico.

The ship begins her summer season from New York on May 18, 2003 with an unprecedented series of seven-day sailings to the Bahamas and Florida. Ports of call on this innovative itinerary include Nassau, Great Stirrup Cay, Miami and Port Canaveral, Florida, and guests have the additional option of embarking in Port Canaveral as well.

Norwegian Dawn will feature several groundbreaking aspects including one of the industry's largest multi-million dollar art collections featuring four original works by 19th and 20th Century masters Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Henri Matisse, Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet in its signature Le Bistro restaurant. Elsewhere on the ship, guests will enjoy a collection of original Pop Art featuring signed works by Andy Warhol.

Guests will also experience a taste of the hottest trend from the Miami club scene with "Fuácata!" parties during the ship's weekly Bahamas and Florida cruises from New York. "Fuácata!" is a Spanish word meaning "to be hit by the unexpected." The term perfectly describes the anything-but-ordinary mixture of hot Latin rhythms, special food and drinks, and all-night revelry that Norwegian Dawn guests will experience from Miami to Orlando.

Miami-based Norwegian Cruise Line is an international cruise company and industry innovator that currently operates a fleet of nine ships sailing to more than 200 ports around the world.
