Norwegian Cruise Line's Launching a "Wave" of Great Prize Giveaways During its "Sale of All Sails" Promotion

Miami, Fla., Dec. 12, 2002 - Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) is launching an exciting new component to its "Sale of All Sails" promotion. NCL will shower cruise sellers with a "Wave of Prizes" in early 2003 with a booking contest designed to reward agents for their hard work during the busiest time of the year.

NCL's "Sale of All Sails Wave of Prizes" will give travel retailers the chance to win prizes on every day of January and February, the beginning of the Wave season, the industry's heaviest booking period. The prizes include:

  • A seven-day cruise for two

  • A coffee break for the entire office

  • Lunch for the entire office

  • Bottles of champagne

  • An evening at the movies

  • Steak dinner for the entire office

NCL will award daily prizes based on the markets sold. For example, agents who sell a Norwegian Sea Bermuda cruise on Jan. 16 can win lunch for the office, while agents who sell a Norwegian Wind Alaska cruise on Feb. 28 can win a seven-day cruise on any NCL ship. NCL has even created a calendar listing each day's prize for agents to post at their work stations. Agents will only have to make the appropriate booking - each booking is an automatic entry.

In addition, winners will be selected randomly and each and every winner will be personally contacted via phone by Mitchell Schlesinger, Vice President of Sales at NCL.

Travel agents got off to a 'head start' in promoting the "Sale of All Sails" to their clients last fall when NCL provided free collateral materials including direct mailers, posters to agents who requested the materials. This year, retailers across North America have responded in record numbers to NCL's offer of promotional materials.

"We know agents work harder during "Wave" Season than any other time of the year, and we want them to know that we recognize how important their efforts are to our continued success, said Andy Stuart SVP Marketing and Sales. "Agents have shown their tremendous determination to ramp up first-quarter bookings through "Sale of All Sails" by ordering an unprecedented amount of collateral materials," he continues.

NCL remains the only major cruise line offering agents a full 10 percent commission on air and does not allow consumer bookings over the Internet.

For further information on NCL, agents in the U.S. and Canada may contact NCL at (800) 327-7030; visit NCL's website at www.ncl.com or on AOL at keyword: NCL; or to download high resolution photography visit www.ncl.com/hires.
