Norwegian Sea Sails From Houston With A Country Beat As NCL Hosts Its 1999 Fall Country Music Theme Cruise

-- Lee Ann Womack, Rhett Akins and Rick Trevino Amongst Line-Up of Performers Aboard September 12, 1999 Cruise--

MIAMI, Fla., February 16, 1999-- Cruisin’ the Caribbean and country music make a perfect match for one fun-filled week, September 12-19, 1999, as the M/S Norwegian Sea sets sail to the Western Caribbean. In addition to sun, fun and non-stop line-dancing, fans will be treated to performances by the following top country artists:

Lee Ann Womack-- In the year that followed the release of her first album, Lee Ann Womack, this Texas-born singer has been the center of both fan and industry excitement. She has won the American Music Award for "Favorite New Country Artist," the Academy of Country Music trophy for "Top New Female Vocalist" and the TNN/Music City News prize for "Female Star of Tomorrow." Her second album, Some Things I Know, established her as one of the genre’s finest traditional voices.

Rhett Akins-- Following the release of his debut album, A Thousand Memories, Akins was named one of Country America magazine’s "Top New Stars in 1995." During that year he had two singles which became Top Ten hits, "That Ain’t My Truck" and "She Said Yes." In 1995 this native of Georgia was named a finalist for "New Country Artist" by the American Music Awards. One of his proudest recent achievements was being asked to serve as the National Music Industry Spokesperson for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

Rick Trevino-- Drawing on his roots as an Hispanic American, Trevino has become the first country artist in decades to build a significant multi-ethnic following. A native of Austin, Texas, Trevino was a student at Texas A & M when he was signed by Columbia Records. Soon afterwards, he scored one of 1994’s biggest hits with the Number One smash, "She Can’t Say I Didn’t Cry" from his self-titled, gold-selling debut album.

David Ball-- The title track from Ball’s 1994 debut album, Thinkin’ Problem, was quick to become the Number Two hit record on country charts. The album went Platinum and garnered Grammy, County Music Association and Academy of Country Music nominations for Ball, also earning him a coveted spot on national tours with Brooks & Dunn and Alan Jackson.

Victoria Shaw-- Shaw broke into the music business as a songwriter, rapidly becoming one of Nashville’s preeminent songwriters. Garth Brooks’ smash Number One hit, "The River" was followed by another chart-topping song written by Shaw, "She’s Every Woman." Several subsequent Number One hits included "I Love The Way You Love" by John Michael Montgomery and "Too Busy Being In Love" by Doug Stone. Shaw has toured extensively throughout the U.S and Europe, including opening for Garth Brooks at the Central Park concert in the summer of 1997.

Malone and Nootcheez-- This duo has been performing their unique blend of music and comedy since they met in 1972. Today they are rated by audiences both young and old, as the top comedy-music duo in America.

Guests Enjoy a Myriad of Activities
When not attending special performances, guests on the Country Music cruise will enjoy line-dancing; clogging; a "Meet the Stars" autograph signing; daily morning trivia contests and a star interview session. In addition to the "country-style" entertainment, guests can enjoy performances of the Broadway hit "Grease," cabaret shows as well as NCL’s own full scale revues "Broadway" and "Sea Legs Express."
