Norwegian Cruise Line Announces Global 2000 Itineraries

Offers Array of Adventures for Guests Sailing into New Millennium

Miami, Fla., March 11, 1999 – Norwegian Cruise Line today announced its fleet deployment for the year 2000, offering 375 cruises to more than 200 ports of call in over 50 countries. As the NCL fleet cruises to destinations around the world in the year 2000, distinctive offerings include the launch of regular weekly Alaska service from NCL’s new home port of Seattle and a maiden call at Rio de Janeiro.

"Norwegian Cruise Line will be entering the millennium with a brand new ship, Norwegian Sky, as well as global itineraries that reflect the diversity of our cruise offerings, and respond to the requests of our guests and travel industry partners," stated Art Sbarsky, executive vice president of NCL. "In establishing our 2000 itineraries, we are providing travel agents with a solid inventory of cruises as well as advance information that will enable them to make recommendations to their clients for NCL voyages through March 2001."

The following are the ship-by-ship itineraries for NCL’s fleet through March 31, 2001:
M/S Norwegian Sky – The newest addition to the NCL fleet, the 2,002-guest Norwegian Sky starts the new millennium with alternating seven-day Eastern/Western Caribbean sailings. Norwegian Sky’s Eastern Caribbean itinerary will sail round-trip from Miami to Eleuthera, Bahamas; San Juan, Puerto Rico; St. Thomas, and Great Stirrup Cay, NCL’s private island in The Bahamas. The Western Caribbean cruises will also sail round-trip from Miami and will include visits to Georgetown, Grand Cayman; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; Nassau, Bahamas; and Great Stirrup Cay.

New for 2000 will be Alaska cruises sailing round-trip from Norwegian Sky’s summer home port of Seattle. In yet another industry innovation, Norwegian Sky will be the first and only major cruise ship to use Seattle as its home port.

Prior to its maiden Alaska voyage, the brand-new Norwegian Sky will be introduced to the travel trade along the West Coast from April 30 to May 7, 2000, with inaugural activities slated for Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle. May 7 kicks off Norwegian Sky’s Alaska season with seven-day cruises to Glacier Bay (or Sawyer Glacier), Haines, Skagway, Juneau, and Vancouver, ending on September 24. Norwegian Sky will then sail a six-day Pacific Coastal cruise and a 15-day Panama Canal cruise before arriving back in Miami to resume alternating Eastern/Western Caribbean sailings throughout the winter.

M/S Norwegian Dream – The Norwegian Dream will cover many parts of the globe in 2000, sailing in the Southern Caribbean, Northern Europe, and the Mediterranean. From January 2 through April 2, 2000, the Norwegian Dream will sail alternating Southern Caribbean itineraries departing every Sunday from San Juan. The Norwegian Dream’s Southern Caribbean/Aruba cruises offer guests the opportunity to overnight in the colorful port of Oranjestad, Aruba, while also stopping at Willemstad, Curacao; Tortola; and St. Thomas. The ship’s Exotic Southern Caribbean itinerary will sail deep into the Caribbean stopping at Castries, St. Lucia; St. John’s; Antigua; St. Kitts/Nevis; St. Croix; and St. Thomas.

Following a five-day repositioning cruise from San Juan to Miami, the Norwegian Dream will sail a 15-day Transatlantic voyage positioning the ship for its European season.
