Norwegian Cruise Line Fully Committed: M/S Norwegian Sky Will Sail On Maiden Voyage

NCL Offers Special Guarantee for August 9, 1999 Sail Date

BREMERHAVEN, Germany, May 17, 1999 – Fully confident its newest ship, the 2,002-guest M/S Norwegian Sky will set sail on its maiden voyage on schedule, August 9, 1999, Norwegian Cruise Line today announced a special guarantee to its valued travel agents and guests. Designed to demonstrate NCL’s long-standing commitment to the travel trade, the guarantee provides the following in the highly unlikely event the ship does not sail on schedule:

  • a full refund

  • future cruise credit for same amount

  • protection of all agency commissions

"We are fully confident that our beautiful new ship, the Norwegian Sky, will set sail on schedule as planned," said Art Sbarsky, NCL’s executive vice president. "To prove our conviction, we are offering our highly-valued travel partners and guests a special guarantee that fully protects them," Sbarsky added. "We are committed to a seamless delivery of the Norwegian Sky."

Just four months prior to her maiden voyage, the ship is shaping up right on schedule at the Lloyd Werft shipyard in Bremerhaven, Germany, under the direction of NCL’s newbuilding team and noted marine architects Tillberg Design of Sweden.

The unique services aboard Norwegian Sky bolster the overall NCL cruise experience, offering outstanding dining, first-rate entertainment, attentive service, and luxurious spa facilities.
