Norwegian Cruise Line Sails Into The New Millennium With Spectacular Cruises To Remember

Extraordinary Cruise Experiences Highlighted by Signature Itineraries and Amenities

Miami, Fla., May 19, 1999 – Norwegian Cruise Line has announced a host of signature millennium cruises, highlighted by unparalleled offerings and itineraries, specially designed to create a "once-in-a-lifetime" guest experience.

With opportunities to kick-off the new millennium aboard some of the finest ships at sea, NCL provides guests with a spectacular array of itineraries, from the Caribbean to South America. The dawn of the new millennium presents an unforgettable New Year’s- at-sea aboard NCL ships with special gala celebrations, memorable meals, events and other offerings.

Millennium Itineraries
Guests can choose from several Millennium cruises, which set sail in 1999 and return in the year 2000.

The M/S Norwegian Crown’s 14-day Millennium sailing will depart Santiago (Valparaiso), Chile, on December 19, 1999, for a 14-day Chilean Fjords/Strait of Magellan voyage to Buenos Aires, Argentina. Highlights of this cruise will be the adventurous rounding of South America’s Cape Horn and an optional "flightseeing" tour to Antarctica. Ports of call include: Puerto Montt and Puerto Chacabuco, Chile; cruising the Darwin Canal, Patagonic Channels, Chilean Fjords and Strait of Magellan; Punta Arenas, Chile; cruising the Beagle Channel; Ushuaia, Argentina; the Falkland Islands; Puerto Madryn, Argentina, and Montevideo, Uruguay. Cruise-only fares range from $3,899 to $9,999 per person, based on double occupancy.

Fresh from a refurbishment and lengthened by 112 feet, the 1,462-guest M/S Norwegian Majesty will offer a 12-day Panama Canal cruise from Acapulco to San Juan, departing December 26, 1999, with calls at Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala; Caldera, Costa Rica; Oranjestad, Aruba and Great Stirrup Cay, NCL’s private island in the Bahamas. Midnight festivities at sea and a New Year’s Day 2000 transit of the Panama Canal are highlights of this sailing. Cruise-only fares range from $2,999 to $8,999 per person, based on double occupancy.

The M/S Norwegian Wind’s nine-day Millennium Celebration will depart from Miami on December 30, 1999, with calls at Roatan, Belize City, Cozumel, Cancun, Key West and NCL’s private island in the Bahamas, Great Stirrup Cay. Cruise-only fares range from $2,899 to $8,999 per person, based on double occupancy.

The legendary S/S Norway will live up to her fabled history as the "Grand Dame of the High Seas" with an eight-day cruise to the Eastern Caribbean. Sailing round-trip from Miami, this classic 2,032-guest vessel will depart December 28, 1999, for St. Maarten, St. Croix, St. Thomas and Great Stirrup Cay, NCL's private island in the Bahamas. On New Year’s Eve, the Norway will rendezvous off the coast of St. Croix with the M/S Norwegian Dream, allowing guests to be treated to a festive celebration and fireworks. Cruise-only fares range from $1,799 to $10,099 per person, based on double occupancy.

The 1,748-guest M/S Norwegian Dream will offer a seven-day Southern Caribbean cruise round-trip from San Juan departing December 26, 1999, to St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Kitts/Nevis, St. Croix and St. Thomas. A nighttime rendezvous with the Norway and a festive celebration with fireworks will take place off the coast of St. Croix on New Year’s Eve. Cruise-only fares range from $3,099 to $7,899 per person, based on double occupancy.

The 1,518-guest M/S Norwegian Sea will offer a Texas-sized celebration during its popular seven-day "Texarribean" itinerary to the Western Caribbean departing December 26, 1999, from the Port of Houston and calling at Cancun, Cozumel and Roatan in the Bay Islands of Honduras. Cruise-only fares range from $2,349 to $6,999 per person, based on double occupancy.

Less than six months old, the 2,002-guest M/S Norwegian Sky will be NCL's newest vessel to ring in the New Year, offering an Eastern Caribbean cruise round-trip from Miami. Departing December 26, 1999, this seven-day voyage includes calls at Great Stirrup Cay, NCL's private island in the Bahamas; Eleuthera in the Bahamas; St. Thomas; and San Juan. Singing sensation Jane L. Powell, a.k.a. the "Queen of Chocolate Funk," will perform exclusively aboard the Norwegian Sky throughout its inaugural season. Cruise-only fares range from $2,599 to $14,199 based on double occupancy.

Entertainment, Dining and Special Amenities
Guests sailing on these special voyages will feel the excitement upon embarkation with champagne and canapés being served during check-in. NCL’s marquee entertainment will light up the lounges throughout the cruise, paying tribute to the best of the past decades with brilliantly orchestrated stage productions, while the bars will be filled with a rejoicing repertoire of musical recollections. In the dining rooms, NCL’s world-class culinary experts will create sumptuous entrees and dessert specialties while each guest will receive a keepsake commemorative New Year’s menu.

All millennium cruises aboard NCL will feature a host of special amenities, including: welcome champagne gift box with two etched flutes; New Year’s Eve costume party with celestial theme; souvenir stationery, envelopes and postcards; souvenir New Year’s Day New York Times Fax (special laminated edition); certificate commemorating exact location at midnight on New Year’s Eve, with coordinates and name of vessel, etc.
