Norwegian Skys "Bridge Cam"
Offers Birdseye View From The Ships Bridge
MIAMI, Fla., Aug. 6, 1999 -- Norwegian Cruise
Line today announced the launch of its Norwegian
Sky "Bridge Cam," mounted on the bridge of the
lines brand new, 80,000-ton ship. "Bridge Cam,"
offers a daylight view of the Norwegian Skys bow and
beyond. The image, updated every 15 minutes, is broadcast
on the Norwegian Sky section of NCLs web site.
"This feature makes it fun for family and
friends back home or anyone interested to log on to see where
the ship is at all times," said Michael Pawlus, Vice
President of Strategic Planning. "Whether at sea or docked
in port, the camera will focus on all sights from the bow
forward, offering some spectacular views," Pawlus added.
For instance, during the Skys Alaska season, beginning
in May, viewers will see the wonders of Glacier Bay and the
spectacular scenery of the Inside Passage. Every Sunday when
the ship is docked at the Port of Seattles Bell Street
Pier, Norwegian Sky "Bridge Cam" will offer a view
of the dramatic skyline of downtown Seattle. And when the
Sky is in the Port of Miami, viewers can see Government Cut
towards Miami Beach.
Norwegian Sky is the first NCL vessel to be
equipped with a "Bridge Cam" and one of only a few
within the cruise industry to offer this feature. The ship
will set sail on its maiden voyage from the port of Dover,
England, on Monday, August 9, 1999. Among the Skys many
features are a glass-domed, mid-ship atrium, eight decks high;
a two-story main show lounge with a proscenium stage, an internet
café, and a cabaret lounge equipped with the longest bar at
sea. Several intimate gathering spots include a wine bar,
champagne bar, coffee bar, Sports Bar, Le Bistro restaurant,
cigar club, schooner bar, and an observation lounge.
