Norwegian Cruise Line Cancels September 5, 17 and 29, 1999 Sailings
Of M/S Norwegian Dream
MIAMI, FL, August 26, 1999 - Norwegian Cruise Line
announced today that three voyages of the M/S Norwegian Dream
have been cancelled: the September 5 "Western Explorer"
cruise, as well as two "Black Sea/Greek Isles" cruises
on September 17 and 29. Previously, the Norwegian Dreams
August 24 cruise had also been cancelled.
The decision follows an assessment by the ships technical
team which determined that the vessel would be temporarily
taken out of service to complete necessary repairs to its
damaged bow and bridge wing following a collision with a container
ship that occurred in the English Channel on August 24.
The Norwegian Dream left Dover, England, earlier today for
the Lloyd Werft shipyard in Bremerhaven, Germany where the
repair work will be completed. The ship will resume regularly
scheduled service with a 12-day Black Sea/Greek Isles cruise
from Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy, on October 11, 1999.
Guests booked on these three cancelled 12-day cruises will
receive a full refund plus a certificate for 50 percent off
a future Norwegian Cruise Line sailing. The cruise credit
certificate will apply to Cruise-only bookings made at Leadership
fares before December 15, 2000, including Millennium cruises.
Guests on any of the four cancelled voyages who re-book their
cruise on select dates in 1999 will receive a $100 per stateroom
on-board spending credit. Travel agent commissions are being
fully protected for each of the cancelled sailings.
Travel agents or guests with questions concerning the status
of the Norwegian Dream may call 1-800-634-8000 for an update.
