Norwegian Cruise Line Senior Management Head Out To Sea To Get ‘In-Touch’

In-Touch Goal: Achieve Hands-On Perspective of Business and Product

Miami, Fla., October 5, 1999 – Seeking to gain an in-depth understanding of their business and product, senior management executives from Norwegian Cruise Line are sailing aboard its ships and serving as ship personnel, dressed in crew uniforms, as part of the company’s In-Touch days.

Guests sailing on the October 9th voyage of NCL’s S/S Norway will have a chance to see the President and CEO of the company, Geir Aune, serving temporarily as Hotel Director. "We feel strongly that the In-Touch program will ultimately lead to an even further enhanced product and service. In-Touch also commemorates Norwegian Cruise Line’s commitment to maintaining its position as an innovator in the cruise industry," said Aune.

Guests will also discover that the Norway’s Concierge is none other than Art Sbarsky, known shore side as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "In-Touch Days is an excellent means for land-based executives to get a first-person understanding of the challenges that our ship officers and crew face at sea on a daily basis," said Sbarsky. "It’s the kind of product knowledge you just can’t acquire when sitting behind a desk in our corporate headquarters," added Sbarsky.

As part of the In-Touch program, a total of 19 executives will sail simultaneously in mid-October on the Norwegian Majesty, Norway, Norwegian Crown or Norwegian Sea. The executives will dine in the Officer’s Dining Room and will be on duty during the normal work hours of the position they are assuming while onboard. The participants are:

Senior executives from NCL’s Ship & Hotel Operations departments who ordinarily oversee shipboard matters will participate in In-Touch by spending two days shoreside with NCL’s District Sales Managers in South Florida. Svenn Dahl, Executive Vice President of Ship Operations; Sigve Bru, Senior Vice President of Ship Operations; and Werner Neuteufel, Senior Vice President of Hotel Operations will visit key travel agency accounts and learn more about NCL’s important business partners.

The In-Touch program is part of the unprecedented effort the company has taken over the past 18 months, which has resulted in the addition of new ships, "lengthenings" and extensive refurbishment projects.

"Together with programs like In-Touch, these enhancements represent a $450 million investment and chart a new course for Norwegian Cruise Line as we head toward the millennium," said Sbarsky. "With the debut of the Norwegian Sky, the announcement of two additional new shipbuilds, the recent lengthening of the Norwegian Majesty, Norwegian Dream, and Norwegian Wind, and extensive refurbishment of the Norway and Norwegian Sea, as well as our recent listing on the NYSE, Norwegian Cruise Line is a company with much to celebrate," added Sbarsky.

On July 9, 1999 NCL Holding was listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol NRW.

Cruising "The Norwegian Way" means that guests experience outstanding dining, first-rate entertainment, and attentive service offered at an affordable price.
