Norwegian Cruise Line To Move Norwegian Sea To Miami In January, 2001, To Begin Three- And Four-Day Cruises

MIAMI, Fla., December 20, 1999 -- Norwegian Cruise Line today announced that it will reposition the M/S Norwegian Sea to Miami to offer three- and four-day cruises on a year-round basis beginning January 15, 2001. Until its redeployment, the 1,518-guest Norwegian Sea will continue sailing on seven-day "Texaribbean" cruises each Sunday from the Port of Houston.

"The three and four-day cruise market has always been a staple of NCL’s product mix," said Art Sbarsky, executive vice president. "The Norwegian Sea performed well in that market several years ago, and we feel she is still the perfect size and capacity to remain competitive on shorter cruise itineraries."

The Norwegian Sea’s three-day itinerary will depart Miami every Friday, calling at Nassau and Great Stirrup Cay, NCL’s private island in the Bahamas. The four-day cruise, departing every Monday, will stop at Key West, Great Stirrup Cay and Nassau. Cruise-only fares for the three-day cruise begin at $299 per person, double occupancy, including port charges. Four-day cruise-only fares begin at $399 per person, double occupancy, including port charges. Air add-ons from more than 150 US and Canada gateways are available.

"Although we successfully opened a new home port in Houston with our Texaribbean cruises, we will have a greater need for the ship elsewhere in 2001," Sbarsky said. "Even without Texaribbean, NCL will still have a wide variety of other seven-day or longer cruises to offer our guests, as well as a year-round three- and four-day option."

The Norwegian Sea, which entered service in 1988, is a contemporary 42,000-ton vessel with a multitude of public spaces and guest amenities. The ship offers a variety of eateries including two main dining rooms, NCL’s signature Le Bistro restaurant, the Big Apple Café and Lickety Splits ice cream parlor. Entertainment options abound with the Cabaret Lounge where guests can enjoy a performance of the Broadway hit "Grease" and other revues; the Stardust Lounge for specialty acts; Boomers Disco; and the Monte Carlo Casino. Junior cruisers have their own playroom, "The Porthole," for NCL’s "Kids Crew" activities, and guests of all ages can enjoy the Norwegian Sea’s spacious pool deck, spa and 24-hours per day fitness area.
